Frequently Asked Questions

Luarasi University is the only Recognized Teaching Centre (RTC) in Albania authorized to issue University of London (UoL) degrees, for the three bachelor programs designed under the academic direction of the London School of Economics (LSE).

Upon successfully completing your studies, you will receive two bachelor’s degrees: one awarded by the University of London under the academic direction of LSE and the other one from Luarasi University. Degrees are nationally and internationally recognised.

Diplomas issued by University of London under the academic direction of LSE are completely equivalent and legally identical. The processes and procedures for the University of London (UoL) diploma are the same; for instance, your exams are designed and evaluated by academics from LSE, ensuring that your degree meets the same standards as those earned by students studying on campus in London. UoL/LSE oversees the academic direction of this program. LSE is internationally recognized as a leading center of excellence and innovation in the social sciences.

The programs are taught in English, and all exams are administered in English, for both diplomas.

The standard duration of these programs is 3 years, with a maximum allowed duration of 6 years, for both diplomas.

In exceptional circumstances, we may allow you to extend your period of registration if you have not completed your Programme within the maximum period of registration. If we allow this:

  1. We will review the current situation of the modules/courses that you have completed and decide whether the credit can contribute to your qualification.
  2. Year will be responsible for any additional fees that become payable.

Accepted proficiency tests (taken within the last three years) for all three Bachelor programs, are as follows:

  1. IELTS: Overall score of 6, with no less than 5.5 in each sub-test (Academic or General or IELTS Indicator Online Test).
  2. TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 87, with 21+ in Reading and Writing sub-tests and 19+ in Speaking and Listening sub-tests.
  3. Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English.
  4. APTIS: Must achieve an overall CEFR score of at least B2, with a minimum equivalent of B2 in each subcategory.
  5. Any other international test accepted by UoL.

Exams are conducted mainly in paper format following the models and procedures established by the University of London under the academic direction of the London School of Economics. For each course, the exam is held at the end of the term in which the course is completed.

Aside from a few exceptions, each full course is examined by one three-hour unseen written assessment and each half course by one two-hour unseen written assessment. The assessment for some courses also includes a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) element, consisting of ten questions covering the first half of the subject guide. The assessment of some courses also involves the submission of coursework or a project – in these cases, details are included as part of the course syllabus.

Examinations take place in May and October each year. All examinations take place on the same dates and at specific times in line with the published timetables. You can first take assessments in the May exam session of your first academic year. In following exam sessions, you can only assess courses which you were registered for in the current or previous academic years and that you have completed.

Your study materials are available through the Student Portal and are specially written by academics appointed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). These include a Student Guide and the programme handbook; online course materials for each course studied; past examination papers and examiners’ commentaries; and Programme Regulations containing full details of syllabuses, programme structures and degree classification criteria.

A student must undertake a total of 120 CATS (60 ECTS) credits each year, and approximately 4-5 courses each year. Half-courses are considered semestral courses, whereas other courses are held annually.

You have a maximum of three attempts at the assessment for each course of an EMFSS degree and you will not be allowed to make a further attempt at a course if you fail it at the final attempt.
